When moving an event from another ticketing platform to Prekindle, or consolidating off-platform ticket sales, we can import existing tickets and barcodes so they remain valid for entry at your event.
This ensures a seamless experience for your customers and your door staff, with all tickets scannable through Prekindle.
When This Applies
This process is used when:
- An event is migrating from another ticketing platform to Prekindle
- Some tickets were sold externally on another platform
- You need all tickets—regardless of origin—to be scanned through Prekindle at the door
How It Works
1. Ticket Creation in Prekindle
Tickets must first be created in Prekindle using one of the following methods:
- Guest List Batch (Comped Tickets)
- Off-Platform Sales Import
These tickets act as placeholders that will later receive the external barcodes.
2. Provide Barcode Data
The venue or organizer must supply:
- A list of barcodes from the original platform
- Associated ticket details (such as ticket type, customer name, etc.)
3. Barcode Replacement
Once received, Prekindle will:
- Assign each external barcode to a corresponding Prekindle ticket
- Use Attendees Export or Master Report
- Send document to Prekindle and allow ample time for transfer and testing
This allows previously sold tickets to be scanned using Prekindle’s scanning tools.
Important Requirements & Limitations
Barcode Format
- Barcodes must be scannable (1D or 2D standard formats such as QR or Code 128)
- Tap-based / NFC tickets are not supported
- Tickets must be printable or display a visible barcode for scanning
Barcode Length
- There are character length limitations for supported barcodes
- Extremely long or non-standard barcode formats may not be compatible
- If unsure, provide samples for validation before import
Security Features
- Rotating or dynamically generated barcodes are not supported
- Platforms using features like SafeTix or similar must have these disabled
- Barcodes must remain static and consistent for scanning
Timing & Testing
- Allow ample lead time for:
- Data formatting and validation
- Importing tickets
- Testing scanners with imported barcodes
- We strongly recommend completing testing well in advance of doors
Best Practices
- Provide a clean, structured file with clear mappings
- Include a test ticket from the other platform to validate formatting and scan success
- Coordinate early with your Prekindle team to confirm compatibility
Summary
By importing external barcodes into Prekindle, you can unify all ticket sales into a single scanning system without disrupting your customers. Proper formatting, compatible barcode types, and sufficient setup time are key to a smooth transition.
